Kim works with various mediums including acrylic on canvas, drawing and collage on paper, and digital painting. Her recent body of digital paintings are autobiographical explorations of contemporary art, probing differentiations between the fine and the decorative. Kim’s works are often composed in highly editorial and cinematographic manners; her usage of bold colours, compositions of dramatic close-ups and wide shots, paired with kitsch motifs such as feel-good slogans and shiny automobiles, are intended to be vessels of social commentary about the enigmatic facets of urbanity.
